Summary: The role of Fractional CFO/FD involves supporting the Managing Director of a growing legal services agency, focusing on financial management and strategic insights. This position is initially part-time, requiring one day per week, with potential for increased engagement over time. The ideal candidate will have experience in dynamic SMEs and will be responsible for overseeing financial operations and providing analysis to guide decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide the MD with ongoing analysis of the business financial position.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting.
  • Cashflow forecasting.
  • Liaise with external accountants.
  • Oversee the bookkeeper to ensure work is completed to a high standard.
  • Review and approve payments, ensuring accuracy.
  • Support Managing Director with Ad-Hoc Projects.
  • Play a key role in strategic decision making.

Key Skills:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified.
  • Strong level of communication both written and verbal.
  • Excellent Leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • A willingness to roll up their sleeves and get hands on within an SME.
  • Previous experience as a CFO or FD within an SME.

Salary (Rate): £800.00/day

Fractional CFO/FD | Legal Services Agency | 1 day per week

The Client

Harmonic are delighted to be working with a trailblazer in the intellectual property & brand protection space to find them a Fractional CFO/FD who will support the Managing Director as the business continues to grow. This is likely to be an initial 12-month engagement, with the potential for it becoming a longer-term position, with an increasing number of days in the future. Our client has scaled significantly since their inception in 2020 and now turning over c.£10m per year. They are founder led and their purpose led culture comes from the top down, therefore this role will suit someone with experience working for dynamic and purpose driven SME’s. Currently with a team size of 40, based both in the UK and abroad, this is likely to grow steadily over the course of the contract as they look to responsibly.

This position will be 1 day per week initially, ideally from their Southwest London office, and work directly with the Managing Director.

The Role

This role will be centred around managing the overall finances of the business. As the first and standalone senior finance hire, there will be elements that require being hands-on as well as providing higher level strategic insights backed by financial data.

Essential Experience

Bonus Experience

  • Previous experience working in a business whose fees are on a contingency basis.
  • Previous experience as a Finance Director.

Day Rate: £600-£800/day

Location: Southwest London (open to remote options)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Length: 12 months
