Summary: The FMEA Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, focusing on engineering and manufacturing activities. This role involves collaborating with R&D, quality, and manufacturing teams to enhance product and process reliability through structured analysis techniques. The engineer will lead FMEA workshops, manage risk identification, and ensure compliance with industry standards while promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate structured FMEA workshops with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams
- Create, maintain, and update DFMEAs and PFMEAs ensuring alignment with evolving designs, manufacturing processes, and quality documentation
- Identify high-risk failure modes and drive prioritisation of mitigation actions across engineering teams
- Coordinate corrective and preventive actions to reduce risk and ensure continuous improvement
- Ensure all FMEA activities comply with AIAG-VDA standards and relevant customer-specific requirements
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality stakeholders to maintain a shared understanding of risks and controls
- Produce progress reports highlighting risk status, mitigation progress, and programme insights
- Manage FMEA tools, templates, and digital platforms to ensure data integrity and consistency
- Review supplier FMEAs and engage with customers to ensure risk management expectations are met
- Promote a proactive culture of risk prevention and continuous improvement across engineering teams
Key Skills:
- Proven experience working as an FMEA Engineer or leading FMEA activities within automotive, battery, or advanced manufacturing environments
- Strong knowledge of APQP processes, risk management frameworks, and structured problem-solving methodologies
- Experience applying AIAG-VDA FMEA standards and maintaining compliant FMEA documentation
- Skilled in facilitating technical workshops and engaging cross-functional stakeholders
- Experience using digital FMEA platforms such as APIS-IQ or similar systems
- Background working within complex engineering programme environments
- Familiarity with battery systems, electrified powertrains, or advanced propulsion technologies
- Exposure to digital quality tools or model-based systems engineering methodologies
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and identify risk patterns
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills expected of a FMEA Engineer

Role Summary
