Summary: The Fluent Commerce Architect will lead the design and implementation of a group-wide Order Management System (OMS) as part of a multi-year retail transformation program. This role requires extensive experience in OMS architecture and Fluent Commerce, focusing on integrating and configuring systems to enhance retail order flows. The position is strategic and hands-on, demanding collaboration with various teams to ensure successful delivery. The role is based in London with a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical design and architecture of a Fluent Commerce-based multi-brand OMS.
  • Translate business requirements into Fluent data models, workflows, and integrations.
  • Configure Fluent Console and build JSON-based workflows tailored to brand-specific order flows and SLAs.
  • Design middleware and data adapters to integrate with legacy systems, WMS, CRM, PIM, and financial platforms.
  • Define and document event-driven, API-first architecture models (e.g., sequence diagrams, PO lifecycles).
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams, including Fluent Commerce, to align on product capabilities and best practices.
  • Provide hands-on leadership through discovery, build, testing, and deployment phases.

Key Skills:

  • Minimum of 8+ years in architecture roles, including 5+ years in large retail transformation programmes.
  • Proven delivery of Fluent Commerce implementations at scale.
  • Strong background in OMS architecture and retail order lifecycle orchestration.
  • Hands-on expertise with Fluent Console and JSON-based workflows.
  • Deep understanding of retail fulfilment models: MTO, DSV, drop-ship, ship-from-store, returns, etc.
  • Experience integrating with legacy systems via middleware or API gateways.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills; able to liaise across business and technical teams.
