Fixed Term Consultant Anaesthetist

Summary: The Fixed Term Consultant Anaesthetist position at North Bristol NHS Trust involves providing anaesthetic services across various specialties, including trauma and elective surgery. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide anaesthetic services across various specialties including trauma, elective surgery, and regional anaesthesia.
• Participate in the expanding regional anaesthesia service supporting trauma and plastic surgery.
• Contribute to the colorectal centre and the Bristol Urology Institute as a tertiary referral centre.
• Engage in the Major Trauma Centre services and the Stroke Thrombectomy Service.
• Support the busy Obstetric Unit and Pain Clinic with a focus on spinal cord stimulator insertion.
• Participate in clinical research and trials within the anaesthetic department.
• Maintain effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Skills:

• Full registration with the GMC and a CCT in Anaesthesia or nearing completion.
• Minimum of 6 years postgraduate experience, including 3 years as a registrar in an approved training post.
• Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices.
• Proven teaching ability and willingness to teach medical undergraduates and postgraduates.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead a team and form effective working relationships.
• Knowledge of contemporary NHS management issues and political context.
