Summary: The Fire Consultant role is a 6-month contract position based in London, focusing on providing expertise in fire safety engineering for large construction projects within the public sector. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement fire safety engineering strategies across the estate.
- Establish requirements and manage fire engineering frameworks in line with client needs.
- Provide leadership and assurance on fire safety engineering design and compliance.
Key Skills:
- BEng (Hons) and MSc or MEng (Hons) in Fire (Safety) Engineering.
- Working towards or holding Chartered Fire Engineer status (UK Engineering Council).
- Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers.
- Practical experience applying and evaluating fire-engineered solutions in the built environment.
- Strong knowledge of prescriptive and performance-based fire safety engineering techniques.
- Understanding of current fire safety legislation, guidance, and regulations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of building construction and emerging themes (e.g., sustainability, heritage buildings).
- Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, including political stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in IT tools and fire engineering software (zone/field models, technical packages).
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations and sustainability considerations.

We are seeking an experienced Fire Consultant to join on a 6-month interim basis. This critical role will provide subject matter expertise in fire safety engineering on large construction projects for Public Sector client in London. As the expert client and customer representative, you will establish and own relevant design standards, validate their application, and lead the strategy for fire safety engineering design, commissioning, and implementation across the Estate.
