Summary: The Financial Support Officer role involves providing essential support to customers in the social housing sector, focusing on welfare benefits and tenancy sustainability. Key Responsibilities:
- Stay up-to-date with welfare benefit entitlements and changes affecting customers.
- Liaise with HB/DWP services to resolve queries and build strong relationships with DWP Partnership Managers.
- Proactively challenge DWP claims to safeguard rental income.
- Signpost customers to internal and external agencies for support and welfare advice to sustain tenancies.
- Identify and address support needs to help customers sustain their tenancies, including visiting non-engaged tenants.
- Collaborate with the Income Management Team to address vulnerability issues and ensure adequate support.
- Contribute to team objectives and attend meetings.
Key Skills:
- Proficient in using a wide range of relevant IT applications.
- Strong experience in income management and debt collection enforcement.
- Knowledge of legal frameworks related to tenancy arrears recovery.
- In-depth understanding of welfare reform and welfare benefits.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Flexibility to work hours as required to maximize arrears recovery.
- Experience in case management, including analyzing customer accounts, problem-solving, and maintaining accurate records.
