Job Purpose / Overview
The IFRS Reporting Lead is responsible for the operational delivery of the IFRS reporting of the SZC Project.
They will support the Senior Financial Reporting Manager to design and document processes, develop their team, apply judgement to the recording of transactions and be able to explain the IFRS reporting produced.
The role requires proactive expert level core understanding of consolidated financial reporting under IFRS, or similar frameworks.
They combine their technical and financial reporting expertise with their knowledge of the external regulated environment and industry, the business entity and its operating model, objectives and challenges.
The role will work collaboratively with the other Finance teams under the CFO but also with the other Corporate teams including Legal, Project Controls, Supply Chain and HR in addition to the Delivery Programmes of the project.
The role holder will support the SZC Head of Finance and SZC Senior Leadership team to own, manage and maintain financial control and governance processes, partnering with all stakeholders, driving awareness of financial performance, enhancing decision making and supporting the effective delivery of the project.
Principal Accountabilities
You will have responsibility for delivering a smooth and well planned month end process that meets the requirements of our internal management reporting as well as the needs of Corporate stakeholders.
This will include ensuring transactions are consistent with SZC accounting policies for IFRS, and the outputs align with the needs of the business teams.
Financial Audit: facilitating a smooth IFRS reporting audit process, co-ordinating inputs from the other teams, ensuring the process is well planned and challenging the audit requirements to make sure they are well understood.
The role holder needs good business awareness to provide insight, sense checking and interpretation of the data, ensuring that the commentaries are supported by analysis, and that the story and messages are consistent throughout.
You’ll have the ability to learn and apply industry knowledge.
Input into the development of accounting policies, implementation and review of financial controls and providing timely, accurate IFRS financial information.
Implement best practice financial behaviours and coach the business in the importance and benefits of accurate financial information.
Support enterprise-wide change initiatives e.g. regulatory driven, cost or growth initiatives.
Ad-hoc requests for information, providing detailed analysis to support decision making.
You’ll report to the Senior Financial Reporting Manager and manage two direct reports.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACCA), 4-5 years PQE
- Hands-on experience in managing month end, consolidation and external audit
- Strong Microsoft suite skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
- Experience of ANAPLAN and SAP 4 HANA desirable
- Strong commercial and / or business experience
- Previous experience of financial reporting essential, experience of the energy industry desirable
