Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of month-end accounts, including variance analysis, commentary, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Produce financial management information for executive committees and board meetings
  • Supervise the accounting team to manage Accounts Payable, Cashbooks, and General Ledger
  • Lead the year-end audit process
  • Prepare statutory IFRS financial statements
  • Design and develop finance systems, controls, and processes
  • Support business projects and ad hoc analysis
  • Assist internal auditors and maintain finance policies and procedures
  • Manage payroll and pension administration via outsourced providers
  • Oversee VAT and corporate tax returns
  • Monitor actual vs budgeted spend and cash balances
  • Produce ALCO, EXCO, and board committee packs

Key Skills:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified accountant
  • Strong technical IFRS accounting knowledge
  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Ability to manage deadlines and take ownership of tasks
  • Experience in the financial services industry, ideally in a small bank or building society or a top 10 audit firm
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or similar GL software
  • Experience with Power BI or process automation
