Financial Reporting Accountant

The Role

Working as part of the Financial Reporting Department, you will support the Corporate Accounting team with key accounting operations and reporting deliverables across the group.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the monthly close and financial reporting processes across multiple legal entities.
  • Reviewing accounting operations, including daily activity, month-end close, quarterly and annual reporting and ad hoc analysis.
  • Preparing and reviewing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Performing detailed reviews of financial statements and ensuring accurate tie-outs to supporting working papers.
  • Supporting multi-entity consolidation processes and associated accounting requirements.
  • Working closely with external auditors to support efficient and timely completion of audits and resolution of accounting matters.
  • Assisting with quarterly and annual regulatory filings, statistical returns and informational surveys across UK, US and international entities.
  • Undertaking technical accounting research and analysis, including consolidation assessments, variable interest entities, investment monitoring and significant business transactions.
  • Liaising with internal teams including Tax, Cash Management and Human Resources, as well as external auditors and corporate service providers.
  • Providing additional accounting and financial reporting support during key reporting deadlines.

The ideal Candidate will have the following:

  • You will be an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant with approximately 5–7 years' relevant professional experience and a strong technical accounting background.
  • You will ideally have:
  • Previous experience within financial services, investment management or another complex financial institution.
  • Strong multi-entity accounting and consolidation experience. (Essential)
  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP, together with a good understanding of US GAAP. (Essential)
  • Experience preparing or reviewing statutory financial statements and supporting external audits.
  • Strong financial reporting and technical accounting capabilities.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including working with large data sets, pivot tables and complex reporting schedules.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A high level of accuracy with strong financial statement review skills.
  • The ability to work effectively to demanding reporting deadlines and manage changing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to work with stakeholders across different functions and jurisdictions.
  • A proactive, self-starting approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
