About the Role
Hays are exclusively partnering with a growing multi-site SME business based on the outskirts of Cheltenham to appoint an Interim Financial Modeller/FP&A Consultant. This is a hands-on, commercially focused role for someone who enjoys building models that genuinely shape business decisions, not just producing reports after the fact. You'll take ownership of site-level profitability analysis, scenario planning, and management information (MI), working closely with both finance and operational stakeholders to improve visibility and support the business's growth plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain financial/business models (Excel-based, with exposure to Power BI or FP&A platforms) that underpin key business decisions
- Conduct site-level profitability analysis, breaking down P&Ls by location and identifying the drivers behind performance differences across sites
- Run scenario analysis - covering areas such as site openings/closures, pricing changes, cost inflation, and headcount planning
- Design and build reusable, preset models and templates that allow operational and site managers to self-serve financial insight
- Improve the visibility and accessibility of management information, moving toward clearer, more decision-ready reporting for both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Partner across the business to ensure financial models and MI are trusted, understood, and actively used in decision-making
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in a Commercial Finance, FP&A, or Financial Modelling role, ideally within a multi-site business (retail, hospitality, care homes, gyms, logistics, or multi-site manufacturing)
- Strong advanced Excel skills are essential; experience with Power BI, Tableau, or FP&A platforms (Anaplan, Adaptive Insights) is a strong advantage
- Demonstrable experience in scenario/sensitivity modelling and site or location-level financial analysis
- Confident business partnering skills - comfortable working with non-finance stakeholders such as ops or site managers
- CIMA Qualified
- A builder's mindset - someone who creates scalable, reusable tools rather than one-off analysis
