Summary: The Financial Crime Officer at Howden will play a crucial role in supporting the financial crime elements of the Annual Compliance Plan. This position involves acting as the primary liaison between business units and the Compliance team, ensuring effective identification and management of financial crime risks. The officer will also contribute to policy development, training, and compliance practices across the organization. This is a 12-month contract requiring at least two days of work in the London office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and execution of financial crime activities within the Annual Compliance Plan.
  • Conduct financial crime risk assessments for operating entities and third-party arrangements.
  • Review and approve escalated financial crime matters and high-risk payments.
  • Maintain and update financial crime and data protection policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to the business on financial crime issues.
  • Deliver management information and committee packs to governance fora.
  • Design and maintain financial crime dashboards and monitoring metrics.
  • Identify and implement training needs across the business, including induction and refresher sessions.
  • Respond to financial crime concerns, breaches, and regulatory submissions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment and effectiveness of financial crime controls.

The Role As a Financial Crime Officer within Howden’s Specialty function, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the financial crime elements of the Annual Compliance Plan. Acting as the primary interface between the business units and the Compliance team, you’ll ensure that financial crime risks are effectively identified, assessed, and managed across the organisation. This includes oversight of systems and controls related to fraud, anti-money laundering, market abuse, bribery and corruption, and data protection. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders including the Monitoring team, Data Protection Officer, Central Sanctions Team, and Regulatory teams to ensure alignment and consistency in compliance practices. The role also involves contributing to thematic monitoring, delivering management information to governance committees, and supporting the development of policies, procedures, and training to promote a culture of compliance. This is a 12 month contract working at least 2 days in our London office.
