Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent Financial Crime Business Oversight Compliance in strategic programmes like One Risk Assessment.
  • Drive consistent approaches and quality of check and challenge across BOC.
  • Deliver insights into the control environment through Key Risk Indicators and ORACs.
  • Support the implementation of updates to Group Policy and Standards.
  • Provide guidance on control implementation/remediation based on inherent risk profiles.
  • Enhance the articulation quality of financial crime-related issues through check and challenge.
  • Identify thematic trends in the control environment through data analysis.

  • Build and maintain productive relationships with first and second line of defence colleagues.
  • Provide independent and objective advice on financial crime issues.

Role: Financial Crime Senior Compliance Manager AVP - Business Oversight Compliance

Location: Hybrid - London 3/4 days per week onsite

Start: ASAP

Duration: Until 31/12/2025 with likely extension (inside IR35 via payroll company)

The Role

Oversight of the firms financial crime compliance and risk management approach. Ensuring the business effectively mitigate the risks of products and services being abused for the purposes of money laundering, terrorism financing, or other financial crime.

Your day-to-day activities will include:

  • Support the Heads of Financial Crime in the management and oversight of control issues across their respective business lines, providing adequate check and challenge of control issues and associated mitigating actions.
  • Represent Financial Crime Business Oversight Compliance in key strategic programmes of work such as One Risk Assessment.
  • Drive consistent approach and quality of check and challenge across BOC.
  • Deliver control environment insights into through Key Risk Indicators and ORACs.
  • Support the implementation of updates to Group Policy and Standards, including the identification of policy snags.
  • Understand the varying inherent risk profiles for each business line and provide guidance on control implementation/remediation proportionate to the business risk.
  • Drive consistent approach to local uplifts, influencing regional peers and businesses.
  • Through check and challenge, enhance the articulation quality of financial crime related issues.
  • Identify thematic trends with respect to control environment through data analysis of issues, key risk indicators and other management information.
  • Production of financial crime related management information.
  • Stakeholder Management and Leadership
  • Capable of building and maintaining productive, collaborative and positive working relationships with the colleagues in the first and second line of defence (other Financial Crime SMEs).
  • The individual will however need to a strike a careful balance and be comfortable in holding an independent yet and objective stance when necessary.
  • The individual should be comfortable in providing advice that will ultimately enable an appropriate and measured approach to the issue/case/risk at hand.
  • Initiates early engagement with key stakeholders to ensure effective partnership with the business which includes openness to giving and receiving challenge at all levels.
  • Provides guidance to the Business where collective action (where controls are allocated appropriately between the 1LOD controls with oversight from FC specialists) result in a stronger risk and control environment.
  • Be comfortable in influencing a variety of stakeholders across 1LOD and 2LOD, utilising data insights to support their case.

  • Highly analytical with the ability to analyse large volumes of data and information to make a sophisticated and informed assessments of risk.
  • Ability to operate and drive activity autonomously or collectively as a team.
