Financial Controller

The Role

As Interim Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting and commercially focused financial insight throughout the contract period.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Producing timely and accurate monthly management accounts and board reporting packs
• Preparing insightful financial commentary and analysis to support key business decisions
• Acting as the senior finance lead and providing support to the Managing Director and wider leadership team where required.
• Overseeing payroll reporting with a particular focus on payroll margin analysis.
• Supporting procurement initiatives and driving improvements in gross profit margin performance.
• Providing financial oversight and analysis for capital expenditure projects.
• Leading the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
• Supporting year-end planning, external audit preparation and statutory reporting requirements.
• Maintaining strong financial controls and identifying opportunities to improve processes and reporting.
• Building strong working relationships with stakeholders across multiple business units and operational teams.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with significant experience operating within a senior finance leadership position.

You will also demonstrate:

Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Head of Finance or Finance Director

Strong commercial acumen combined with excellent technical accounting knowledge.

The ability to operate strategically whilst remaining hands-on with day-to-day financial operations.

Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence senior leadership.

Experience of budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation and financial controls.

Strong analytical capability with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.

The ability to quickly embed into an established business and provide immediate value.
