Summary: The Finance Assistant role is a temporary position for three months, focused on day-to-day operational finance tasks within a growing frozen ready meal manufacturer. The position involves accounts payable, receivable, and financial reporting, ensuring efficient finance operations across two sites. The role requires collaboration within the finance team and supports the company's commitment to manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement. Flexibility in location is available, with initial work in Gorton and a move to Oldham in April 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist within the finance department on day-to-day operational finance requirements.
  • Process invoices and payment runs for accounts payable.
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and maintain an up-to-date invoices inbox.
  • Ensure timely collection of payments and follow up on overdue invoices.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes in financial reporting.
  • Perform general ledger maintenance in preparation for ERP system switchover.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and audits.
  • Support the Finance Team with allocation of cash received to customer accounts.
  • Maintain and update financial databases and systems.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and provide administrative support to the finance team.
  • Ensure accuracy in all financial tasks and reporting.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in financial practices.
  • Work effectively within a team to achieve department goals.
  • Identify and resolve financial discrepancies and issues.
  • Adapt to new processes and changes in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: £27k - £30k negotiable depending on experience

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday

Contract: Temporary 3 months

Location: On-site role- some flexibility can be discussed at interview. Gorton initially then Oldham from April.

  • Keep invoices inbox clean and up to date.
  • Keep up to date log of queries with invoice.
  • Ensure timely collection of payments and follow up on overdue invoices.
  • Financial Reporting:
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Perform general ledger maintenance in preparation for new system ERP switchover
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and audits.
  • Sales Ledger
  • Support the Finance Team with allocation of cash received to customer accounts
  • General Financial Administration:
  • Maintain and update financial databases and systems.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.
