Summary: The Interim Finance Analyst role involves supporting a national public sector programme by maintaining financial governance and assisting with monthly reporting cycles. The position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in finance roles within public sector organizations and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. This is a temporary position lasting three months, with a hybrid working arrangement in London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support monthly reporting including transaction reviews, journal postings and preparation of financial information for programme boards
  • Assist with year end activities and budget reconciliation
  • Reconcile supplier invoices, maintain audit-ready documentation and manage financial filing systems
  • Maintain monthly reconciliations and track outstanding payments
  • Process invoices, orders and receipts using financial systems (full training provided)
  • Resolve invoice and payment queries in collaboration with procurement, suppliers and accounts payable
  • Raise and validate invoices to regional partner organisations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with schedules and milestones
  • Monitor orders and maintain records, acting as first point of contact for order-related queries
  • Recommend process improvements and support efficiency initiatives
  • Provide guidance to project teams on financial procedures and best practice

Key Skills:

  • CCAB Qualified, with at least 2 years post-qualification experience
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in finance roles within public sector organisations
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
  • Experience of reconciliations and month end processes
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
  • The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

The role sits within a small, collaborative finance function and would suit someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, is highly organised, and confident working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
