A well-established international organisation operating within the business services and distribution sector is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its finance team on a 9-month fixed-term contract.

Your new role
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will take responsibility for a broad range of financial accounting duties across UK and Irish entities.
This is a hands-on role that will suit an accountant who enjoys working across transactional finance, reporting, controls and audit activities.
- Maintaining the general ledger, purchase ledger and sales ledger.
- Managing accruals, prepayments and monthly accounting adjustments.
- Performing stock reconciliations and posting relevant journal entries.
- Completing monthly bank reconciliations.
- Processing and reconciling staff expenses.
- Recording daily cash receipts and payments.
- Preparing UK and Ireland VAT returns for external review and submission.
- Producing monthly financial reports for senior management and group stakeholders.
- Supporting quarterly consolidations and group reporting requirements.
- Providing ad hoc financial analysis and reporting.
- Assisting with year-end audit preparation and responding to auditor requests.
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls, accounting policies and group procedures.
- Collaborating with international colleagues to support finance best practice and process improvements.
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree-qualified or equivalent accounting qualification/experience.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial processes.
- Previous experience within a Financial Accountant or Assistant Accountant role.
- Experience preparing management reports and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Working knowledge of VAT returns and audit preparation.
- Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a small team environment.
- An inquisitive and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders at various levels.
