Summary: The Financial Accountant (Product Development) role in Milton Keynes involves shaping financial processes for cross-functional change initiatives. The position requires strong technical knowledge and collaboration skills, as the accountant will represent Finance in major projects and ensure compliance while supporting continuous improvement. The role is expected to last until the end of March, with a high likelihood of extension. The working arrangement includes three days on-site and two days working from home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be a subject matter expert on core products and processes, including Accounting Posting Books and chart of accounts.
- Act as a team specialist for new applications/capabilities being delivered.
- Attend project meetings, managing diary and meeting conflicts.
- Understand the interaction and impact of subsidiary systems on main accounting systems to ensure integrity.
- Support in writing business requirements and clarifying accounting treatment with the functional team.
- Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and testers in delivering requirements.
- Understand the impact of operational changes on procedures and core business systems.
- Learn key features of new applications and input into migration and reconciliation activities.
- Coordinate completion of process maps and procedures/tasks for the functional team.
- Support colleagues within Finance workstreams as required.
- Provide regular updates to the Finance Product Team/One Finance Senior Leadership team.
- Secure decisions/escalations where required.
- Review UAT to ensure key controls are included within testing.
- Coordinate and contribute to training material and rollouts to impacted colleagues.
Key Skills:
- CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified accountant (or QBE).
- Change management techniques (Prince2, Six Sigma) preferable.
- Previous experience in the financial services industry.
- Knowledge of SAP and cross-functional Finance activities.
- Experience in operational/transformational projects, driving and leading change.
- Understanding of system accounting reconciliation in a Finance environment.
- Experience managing relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- Proactive self-starter with the ability to adapt to fast-changing circumstances.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Delivery-focused with high drive and self-motivation.
- Strong organizational ability and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of VWFS (UK) business model and systems.

Our client is currently searching for a Financial Accountant - Product Development to join their team and to play a key role in shaping financial processes for cross-functional change initiatives. Within this role you will represent Finance in major projects, ensuring compliance, minimising disruption and supporting continuous improvement. This role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be a subject matter expert on our core products and processes including an understanding of the Accounting Posting Books and chart of accounts associated to those products
- Be a team specialist for the new applications/capability being delivered
- Attend project meetings as required, managing diary and meeting conflicts
- Understand the interaction and impact of subsidiary systems on the main accounting systems to ensure system integrity, particularly in relation to specific balance sheet and profit & loss accounts, highlighting issues as necessary
- Support in the writing of business requirements, clarifying accounting treatment and process with the functional team
- Collaborating with the business analysts, developers and testers in the delivery of the requirements
- Understand the impact of operational changes to procedures and core business systems
- Learn the key features of the new applications
- Input into migration and reconciliation activity
- Co-ordinating the completion of process maps and procedures/tasks to be performed by the functional team
- Support colleagues within the Finance workstreams as required

Experience Required:
- CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified accountant (or QBE)
- Change management techniques are preferable (Prince2, Six Sigma)
- Previous experience in the financial services industry
- Knowledge of SAP and cross functional Finance activities covering month end tasks, transaction processing and AP & AR operations
- Experience of working on operational/transformational projects, driving & leading change
- Understanding of system accounting reconciliation experience in a Finance environment
- Experience of managing relationships with multiple stakeholders
- A self-starter with a proactive approach and the ability to react appropriately and effectively to fast changing circumstances and demands, without losing focus on the balance between flexibility and control
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with both Finance and non-Finance staff at all levels
- Delivery focused, high level of drive, self-motivation, and a strong team player with a willingness to take ownership of tasks
- Ability to work under pressure in order to meet strict deadlines
- Strong organisational ability and problem solving
- Requirement to develop understanding of the VWFS (UK) business model and systems and understand within the scope of the Project, where changes to these processes and systems may impact on financial reporting, operations and controls
- Working knowledge of SAP FI, Credit Finance Contract Management Systems preferable
