Summary: The role of Financial Accountant involves supporting the Council through year-end and audit processes for a minimum of six months. The position requires hands-on experience in preparing statutory year-end accounts and resolving audit queries, ideally within a local government context. The role offers hybrid working arrangements, with a minimum of one day in the office each week. There is also an option for the position to transition from temporary to permanent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare statutory year-end accounts
- Plan and lead year-end closedown through to audit conclusion
- Resolve audit queries
- Maintain a changes log and journal entries
- Prepare final set of accounts
- Utilize advanced Excel skills
- Support the Council during year-end and audit processes
Key Skills:
- CCAB qualified (QBE considered for exceptional candidate)
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in preparing statutory year-end accounts
- Experience in planning and leading year-end closedown
- Experience in resolving audit queries
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience in a large complex public sector organization
- Local government experience (desirable)
- CIPFA qualified (desirable)
- Experience in staff management (desirable)
- Experience in completing local government statistical returns (desirable)
