Summary: The Financial Accountant role involves contributing to the Group Finance team by preparing consolidated financial reports and conducting detailed financial analysis. The position requires collaboration with finance teams and external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards. The role is based in Chiswick, London, and operates on a hybrid working model.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly consolidated financial reports in line with group guidelines, policies, and accounting standards
- Provide insightful analysis of actual results, highlighting key variances and trends
- Calculate and post consolidation journals within the consolidation system
- Support finance teams with technical accounting queries and ensure timely, accurate monthly close
- Administer the financial consolidation system (Cognos Controller) and manage close activities
- Provide guidance on technical accounting matters, including preparing papers for the Audit Committee
- Coordinate and prepare half-year and year-end financial statements and disclosures
- Liaise with external auditors to support interim and year-end audit processes
- Coordinate the Group’s global statutory accounts process
- Support corporate projects (e.g. intra-group dividends, balance sheet reorganisations)
- Assist with monthly performance reporting as required
- Conduct analysis on one-off or ad hoc business transactions
- Contribute to group-wide finance projects
Key Skills:
- Degree qualified with a relevant professional accounting qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- “Big 4” experience preferred
- Minimum 1 year post-qualified experience (PQE)
- Strong understanding of IFRS and technical accounting principles
- Knowledge of financial systems and consolidation processes
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel)
- Experience with SAP
- Experience with Cognos Controller (desirable)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proactive and self-motivated approach
