Summary: The Financial Accountant role at Close Brothers involves providing comprehensive support for both external and internal reporting, as well as overseeing finance functions within the banking segments. The ideal candidate will have a background in month-end and financial control procedures, coupled with strong analytical skills and attention to detail. This position emphasizes collaboration within the Finance team and the ability to meet tight deadlines. The role is offered as a 13-month fixed-term contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production of monthly Bank consolidation file
  • Prepare monthly consolidation journals
  • Compile the internal Profit by Clusters report
  • Run monthly control reports and ensure no issues exist including monitoring intercompany matrix
  • Ensure timely submissions of the FINREP packs from the business units
  • Preparation of the consolidated quarterly FINREP report including raising review comments and challenge to the business units
  • Preparation of the Office of National Statistics returns
  • Assist with the consolidation of business submissions of data as required, including summary of intangible assets, IFRS 9 impairment, data for impact assessment of new accounting standards
  • Produce high quality interim and year-end financial reports including the Banking Group’s consolidated and stand-alone financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards
  • Support the IFRS 16/IFRS 9 process across the Bank

Key Skills:

  • A qualified Accountant, ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent
  • Strong organisational skills including a good track record of delivering effective reporting under pressure and to tight business-critical deadlines
  • Evidence of working well within teams and proven ability to engage

Working as part of the Finance team our ideal team member will have previous experience in month-end and financial control procedures with excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
