Summary: The Finance Operations Manager - Accounts Payable will lead the Accounts Payable function within a large housing association's Finance Operational Hub. This temporary role, with potential for permanence, emphasizes efficient payment services and team management while ensuring compliance and financial governance. The position requires collaboration with stakeholders and a focus on process improvements and operational finance practices. The role offers hybrid working arrangements and a competitive daily rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop the Accounts Payable team, ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient end-to-end payment processes across the full accounts payable lifecycle.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, resolving complex payment issues swiftly and professionally while supporting high-quality monthly reporting and continuous process improvements.
- Maintain strong financial governance and internal controls, ensuring compliance with NHG policies, statutory regulations, accounting standards, health and safety requirements, and safeguards against fraud and error.
- Streamline, modernise, and innovate accounts payable operations through automation, enhanced workflows, new system implementations, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Deliver accurate and insightful KPIs, reporting, and analysis to inform senior management and support organisational decision-making.
- Provide senior-level financial advice and guidance while managing, appraising, and developing staff to achieve high performance and professional growth.
Key Skills:
- Part or fully qualified CCAB accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in managing an Accounts Payable function in a large, complex organisation.
- Management experience with hands-on involvement, overseeing 2 direct reports and 18 Finance Officers.
- Exposure to high volume and stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated success in leading teams within a customer service-focused finance environment.
- Preferable housing experience and D365 experience.
- Advanced IT and systems skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
- Analytical capability to interpret complex data and recommend effective solutions to senior management.
