Summary: The Finance Officer role is a temporary position focused on year-end financial processes within a leading intergovernmental organization in London. Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the officer will support external audits, maintain financial records, and ensure accurate financial reporting for the organization's funds. The position requires a degree in finance or a related field and relevant experience in finance and year-end processes. The role offers hybrid working arrangements, requiring in-office attendance two days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Manage the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate tracking of depreciation, acquisitions, and disposals.
  • Maintain a detailed journal entry record, including recurring transactions and year-end adjustments.
  • Calculate and process inter-fund balances for regular settlement.
  • Support the year-end audit, preparing working papers, schedules, and supporting documents.
  • Assist in compiling financial statements for the organisation’s three funds.
  • Respond promptly to external audit queries.
  • Generate daily liquidity reports and contribute to cash flow forecasting.
  • Monitor and reconcile UK and overseas bank accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely approvals.

Key Skills:

  • A degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent).
  • CIMA, ACA, or ACCA qualification (or part-qualified and actively studying).
  • Solid experience in finance and year-end processes.
  • Strong expertise in balance sheet reconciliations and month-end closures.
  • Experience in fixed asset accounting and working with external auditors.
  • Familiarity with IPSAS or IFRS (desirable).
  • Experience with bank reconciliations, especially foreign currency accounts.
  • Knowledge of multi-site and multi-currency reporting (an advantage).
  • Proficiency in CODA Financials or similar ERP/accounting systems.
  • Strong Excel and IT skills.
