Summary: The Finance Officer role at a prestigious London university involves providing essential administrative support for financial operations within a higher education setting. The position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as a proactive approach to managing day-to-day financial matters. This full-time, campus-based role is set to begin immediately and will last for two months. The successful candidate will be integral to the finance team, ensuring compliance with college policies and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing day-to-day administrative support for financial operations of the Department, reporting to the Research and Finance Manager
  • Raising Purchase Orders, supplying Invoices to customers, supporting sign off of Expense Claims, managing the virtual credit card system for the department, administering non-payroll payments such as ad hoc casual staff, setting up and closing of account codes
  • Ensuring all financial transactions are carried out correctly, efficiently and in a timely manner and comply with college policies
  • Monitoring and maintaining accurate financial records to meet audit requirements for all aspects of departmental financial administration
  • Serving as the first point of contact for financial queries and providing advice on financial procedures and College policy both in mailbox and in person
  • Supporting the team in other aspects of departmental financial administration, to include assisting with travel and accommodation bookings

Key Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience in financial administration in a higher education setting
  • Good organisational skills and time management with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate effectively with the finance team and other stakeholders
  • Strong numerical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Highly proficient IT skills - MS Office Suite, Excel and knowledge of electronic financial operating systems
