Summary: The Finance Manager role is a contract position based in West Sussex, focused on driving financial accuracy within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial records, managing fixed assets, and supporting operational decisions. This hands-on role requires a detail-oriented professional who can operate at both transactional and strategic levels. The position is critical for ensuring strong financial controls and accurate reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the update and correction of the fixed assets register ensuring accurate capitalisation and depreciation records
- Oversee the integrity of the order book, ensuring that all data is accurate and up to date to support procurement and invoicing activities
- Maintain the accuracy of financial records, preparing monthly management accounts and supporting board pack production
- Input and scan supplier invoices into SAGE, ensuring timely and accurate processing
- Manage stock accruals and ensure appropriate month end adjustments
- Collate weekly payroll data for submission to the payroll provider
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and process receipts and payments
- Raise and issue sales invoices, credit notes, proformas and customer statements
- Monitor debtor balances and liaise with customers to ensure prompt payment
- Manage petty cash and maintain related records
- Prepare journals and conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Produce financial and sales performance reports
- Support the Finance Director in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Ensure the ongoing accuracy of SAGE data and assist in system improvement projects
- Support the implementation of a new corporate performance management system
Key Skills:
- A qualified finance professional (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting processes and financial control
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining and updating fixed asset registers
- Proficiency in SAGE, Excel and PowerPoint
- Commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across functions
- Self starter with a proactive mindset and ability to support business change initiatives
