Summary: The Finance Manager role at Forge Talent involves overseeing financial operations within a growing business near Warrington. Key Responsibilities:
- Management of Month-End Close: Oversee the preparation and delivery of the monthly management accounts pack, ensuring tight deadlines are met; Review and challenge balance sheet reconciliations, working with the team to ensure accuracy and completeness; Ensure all statutory and tax deadlines (including VAT returns) are met.
- Audit and Year-End: Lead on interaction with external auditors, being the first point of contact and managing the preparation and delivery of supporting schedules and information; Take ownership of the statutory accounts preparation (financial year-end); Support ongoing due diligence requests and statutory reporting across a PE-backed environment.
- Team Leadership: Manage a team of five (mix of remote and office based), ensuring efficient workload distribution and encouraging a self-sufficient mindset within the team; Provide guidance and upskilling around audit requirements, technical reconciliations and best practices; Support, develop, and review the handover of tasks as required to ensure team resilience.
- Process Improvement & Change Projects: Drive process improvements, controls, and reporting; Be adaptable and comfortable with shifting business priorities – expectation of regular fire-fighting and business change in a high-growth, PE environment.
Key Skills:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in industry.
- Demonstrable experience of year-end, audit, and statutory reporting in a fast-paced, change-driven business (ideally PE-backed).
- Strong technical accounting background; comfortable with technical reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Proven ability to manage, mentor and develop a small team in a supportive but pacey environment.
- Strong initiative, not reliant on “instructions” – happy to roll sleeves up and flex according to rapidly changing needs.
- Pragmatic, personable and able to build relationships at all levels.
