The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take responsibility for the accurate and timely delivery of the month-end process, financial reporting and wider financial control activities.
You will also manage and support a team of finance professionals, overseeing workloads, providing guidance and mentoring, and ensuring high standards are maintained across the function.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and overseeing the month-end close, ensuring all reporting is completed accurately and on time.
- Production and analysis of management and financial accounts, including Income Statement, Balance Sheet and cash flow reporting.
- Detailed variance analysis against budget and prior year, providing clear commentary and insight.
- Taking ownership of Balance Sheet reconciliations and analysis, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Managing and developing a small finance team, including workload management, coaching, mentoring and performance management.
- Managing audit requirements and working closely with external auditors.
- Supporting tax returns, reconciliations and wider statutory requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, controls and regulations.
- Monitoring KPIs and producing management reporting for senior stakeholders.
- Working collaboratively with other departments to improve financial performance and processes.
- Supporting the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and ad hoc financial analysis.
- Assisting with finance systems and ERP-related projects where required.
About You
We are looking for a qualified accountant who combines strong technical accounting skills with proven experience managing a finance team.
You will ideally have:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
- Proven experience managing or leading a finance team.
- Strong month-end and management accounts experience.
- Excellent Balance Sheet and reconciliation skills.
- Experience with audit and statutory reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Previous experience within an EMEA or international environment would be advantageous.
- Strong ERP and financial systems experience; NetSuite experience would be an advantage.
- Excellent Excel and wider Microsoft Office skills.
- A hands-on, organised and proactive approach, with the ability to quickly take ownership of a busy finance function.
