Summary: The Finance Manager role at the University of Cambridge involves leading the development of a new financial planning model as part of the Enhanced Financial Transparency Project. This position requires significant experience in financial management within both higher education and commercial sectors, focusing on the Transparent Approach to Costing (TRAC) return submission. The role is fixed-term for two years and supports the Finance Transformation Programme aimed at modernizing financial planning and budgeting processes across the university.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply a new financial planning model for the University.
  • Oversee the TRAC return submission to the Office for Students.
  • Contribute to the Finance Transformation Programme, particularly the Enhanced Financial Transparency project.
  • Ensure continuity of business-as-usual activities during the transition from legacy processes.
  • Manage and communicate changes in accounting practices to stakeholders.
  • Present complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Develop accounting tools for Activity Based Costing management accounting solutions.

Key Skills:

  • Significant relevant experience in Higher Education/Public Sector and commercial environments.
  • Experience managing an accounting and finance team.
  • Ability to present complex financial information understandably.
  • Experience in managing and communicating change in accounting practices.
  • Experience developing accounting tools for Activity Based Costing.
  • Educated to degree level or level 7 vocational qualification.
  • Chartered accountant or equivalent level of experience.

Salary (Rate): £66,537.00
