Summary: The Finance Manager role is a fixed-term contract position based in Stockport, Greater Manchester, requiring a qualified accountant to support the Finance Director during a maternity leave. The position involves overseeing the finance team, preparing management accounts, and delivering insights for departmental heads. The role emphasizes strong management accounting skills and continuous improvement in financial operations. The contract is for a duration of 9 months, with a focus on team leadership and collaboration across departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Month-end and preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Year end audit and tax pack completion
  • Reconciling and processing intercompany charges
  • Preparing and posting journals to the general ledger
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Maintaining data in central company databases
  • Testing and evaluating improvements of central company databases
  • Preparation of weekly cash flow forecast
  • Supporting continued development of finance team members
  • Continuous improvement to all areas of financial control and reporting
  • Ad-hoc projects to support the financial controller and wider Finance team
  • Line management of Management Accountant and Purchase Ledger Manager
  • Supervise the finance team and ensure efficient operations
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders

Key Skills:

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
  • Proven experience as a Finance Manager or similar role with strong hands-on management accounting skills
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven mentoring skills for junior staff in the team
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software and MS Excel and Sage 200
  • Financial planning and analysis
