Summary: The Finance Manager will oversee a team of finance administrators within the Polymers business, ensuring compliance with internal controls and effective cash flow management. This role involves cash forecasting, period-end processes, and intercompany management while supporting the growth of the Biffa Polymers business through system implementation and process improvements. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to resolve financial issues and enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cash forecasting and reporting in accordance with group guidelines, including bank reconciliation and cash book postings.
- Lead the period end timetable and ensure completion of scheduled tasks, including reconciling general ledger balances monthly.
- Coordinate preparation and submission of quarterly returns, including VAT and Waste Management.
- Manage the intercompany process and related queries.
- Oversee ledger management and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Own the AR and AP processes in the Polymers sub-division.
- Liaise with commercial/financial staff to identify and resolve financial issues.
- Review processes and systems to identify and implement improvements.
- Manage the Fixed Asset Register and ensure compliance with IFRS16.
- Lead and coach 3 direct reports and contribute to the wider finance team's advancement.
Key Skills:
- Part qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA).
- Experience supporting and influencing operational colleagues across multiple locations.
- Strong system skills, including advanced Excel and some Power BI.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting financial data and making strategic recommendations.
- Management accounting experience in service, logistics, or waste industries is an advantage.
