Summary: The Finance Business Partner role involves delivering high-quality financial advice and support to a Local Authority in the East of England for a 6-month period. The position requires collaboration with senior managers and other staff to prepare financial accounts, manage budgets, and ensure effective use of financial resources. The role also emphasizes the importance of empowering budget holders and contributing to corporate financial returns. A fully qualified CCAB Accountant or an experienced QBE Accountant with local government knowledge is essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of monthly financial and management accounts, including budgeting and forecasting.
- Analysis, commentary, and advice on financial matters.
- Challenge existing budgets and assumptions.
- Support service managers with financial projects and funding bids.
- Provide financial advice on service and corporate-based projects.
- Ensure effective completion of government returns and financial data requests.
- Contribute to corporate returns for both revenue and capital.
- Create a culture that empowers budget holders and supports value for money services.
Key Skills:
- Fully qualified CCAB Accountant or extensive experience as a QBE Accountant.
- Experience in a similar role, ideally within Local Government/Public Sector.
- Knowledge of local government accounting.
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Ability to present financial information to non-finance managers and senior management.
