Summary: The Finance Administrator at the UCL Cancer Institute plays a crucial role in supporting the finance team by managing non-core accounts and assisting budget holders in accordance with UCL's financial policies. This part-time, fixed-term position requires effective communication and strong IT skills, particularly in Excel and Microsoft Office. The role also involves providing cover for the Finance Office and approving purchase orders. The successful candidate will contribute to the Institute's mission of advancing cancer research and improving patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support activity in the Institute’s non-core accounts, including discretionary, trading, and consultancy activities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for non-core budget holders, assisting in account management.
  • Explain and ensure implementation of UCL finance policies.
  • Provide cover for the Finance Office (Procurement & Research) as required.
  • Approve purchase orders for all activities.
  • Produce summaries of income/expenditure accounts suitable for a non-finance audience.

Key Skills:

  • Education to A-level or equivalent experience.
  • Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in finance/budgetary management with an accounting system (e.g., Oracle).
  • Strong numeracy, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working within the Higher Education Sector (desirable).
  • Experience in a large and complex organization (desirable).

Salary (Rate): £41,255
