Summary: The Field Production Support Engineering Specialist role involves providing real-time technical support within a high-end film and television production studio. The specialist will bridge production workflows and technical systems, ensuring seamless operation of equipment and data pipelines throughout the production process. This position requires extensive travel to various filming locations and collaboration with creative and technical teams. Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Production: Onboard and train production crew on technical workflows, lead kick-off calls with production teams to gather requirements and recommend solutions, configure workstations, servers, media storage (NAS/SAN), and networking infrastructure, set up secure data workflows and remote collaboration tools.
  • On-Set: Provide real-time support for video village, camera connectivity & data wrangling, troubleshoot production hardware/software (macOS, Windows, wireless systems, monitors, recording devices), resolve network and storage issues to minimize downtime, work with DITs, camera and sound teams to ensure workflow continuity, travel to studios, production offices, and filming locations (UK, Europe, international).
  • Post-Production: Support editing suites, grading stations, and post environments, manage media migration, archiving, and delivery compliance, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with editors, colorists, and vendors.

Key Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience in on-set technical support or DIT-assist role for film, TV, or commercials.
  • Knowledge of professional cinema camera systems (ARRI, RED, Sony, Canon).
  • Proficiency with media storage & transfer tools (NAS/SAN, Aspera, Signiant, Frame.io, etc.).
  • Understanding of networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing/switching, security basics).
  • Experience with macOS and Windows environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to travel extensively & work variable hours.
