Summary: The Fibre Optic Engineering Review and Training Support role involves leading the delivery of a Fibre Optic Learning & Development engagement for a defence-sector client. The position requires a consultant with technical expertise in fibre optics, instructional design, and training delivery. The role is based in Manchester with a hybrid working arrangement and requires active SC clearance. The contract is for an initial duration of 4 months and is classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consultancy & Analysis
- Conduct on-site assessment of existing fibre optic systems, processes, and practices across manufacturing, test, and design teams.
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Produce a detailed findings and recommendations report.
- Training Design & Development
- Define learning outcomes based on consultancy insights.
- Design a tailored training package for three distinct teams (Manufacturing, Test Engineering, Design).
- Develop supporting materials such as guides, checklists, and reference documents.
- Training Delivery
- Facilitate a hands-on training session for selected engineers.
- Ensure knowledge transfer and enable internal capability building.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with client stakeholders to align on objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
- Provide regular updates and incorporate feedback into the training solution.
- Post-Training Support
- Offer light-touch support post-delivery to address queries and reinforce learning.
Key Skills:
- Strong technical background in fibre optic systems, including handling, testing, and design.
- Experience in technical training design and delivery, ideally in a defence or high-compliance environment.
- Ability to translate complex technical content into accessible learning materials.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with industry standards (eg IEEE, IAAA, MIL-STD, IEC).
