Summary: The F5 Network Engineer role involves working with a leading banking client to design, implement, support, and automate F5 load balancing solutions within a critical infrastructure. The position requires collaboration with various teams and leadership of a small onshore engineering team while managing offshore resources. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network engineering, particularly with F5 technologies, and will focus on delivering scalable and secure network services. This is a long-term contract position based in London with a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and support F5 LTM and GTM solutions across enterprise environments.
  • Manage and mentor a team of 4-5 onshore engineers while coordinating with offshore teams.
  • Work with solution architects and application teams to deliver scalable and resilient load balancing solutions.
  • Perform testing, certification, and deployment of new F5 hardware and software releases.
  • Troubleshoot complex networking and application delivery issues, acting as a senior escalation point.
  • Develop automation for infrastructure deployment and management using Python and Ansible.
  • Improve platform performance, stability, and operational efficiency through automation and best practices.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and ensure environments are well monitored and supportable.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions.

Key Skills:

  • 5-8 years of experience in Network Engineering with strong expertise in F5 technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with F5 LTM, GTM, TMSH, iControl APIs, and iRules.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including:
    • TCP/IP
    • HTTP/HTTPS
    • SSL/TLS
    • DNS
    • BGP
    • Routing & Switching
  • Experience automating infrastructure using Python, Ansible, Shell scripting, or similar tools.
  • Good Linux command-line administration skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
