Summary: As the Exterior Lighting Project Engineer for a luxury car company, you will oversee the development and delivery of lighting functions, ensuring integration with vehicle systems. Your responsibilities include managing hardware, software, and communication interfaces while collaborating with various engineering teams. The role requires a strong understanding of vehicle systems and function-based development, along with effective communication skills. This position offers a competitive hourly rate and a hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the Function Description and Function Requirements Specification, ensuring alignment with the Lead Developer and Component Owner.
- Create and manage the Function Delivery Plan, including verification and validation activities.
- Test the function across all relevant elements: control units / compute platforms, software blocks containing function fragments, Inter-element communication, Input and output devices.
- Conduct systematic interface testing before full integration.
- Report issues and support resolution planning.
- Collaborate with the EE Infrastructure Architect to define signal cascade diagrams (Wirkkette), electronics functional system block diagrams and boundary diagrams.
- Support mapping of functions to components and regulatory requirements.
Key Skills:
- Engineering degree qualified.
- Experience with ECU software and hardware integration.
- Strong understanding of vehicle systems and function-based development.
- Familiarity with boundary diagrams, signal cascade diagrams, and function maturity levels.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage technical dependencies.
- Proficiency in requirements management and validation planning.
- German language skills are a plus.

As the Exterior Lighting Project Engineer with this luxury car company, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of the function end-to-end across all required elements-hardware, software and communication interfaces. Your role ensures that the function is correctly described, specified, tested and integrated into the vehicle system. You will manage end to end functions on the vehicle, including the electrical systems and all other interactions. You will cascade changes and improvements to engineers and other function owners and must understand internal car communications.
