Summary: The Excel VBA Specialist role involves developing and optimizing Excel VBA solutions to automate business processes and enhance data management. The candidate will collaborate with various teams to design custom solutions and ensure integration with other business systems. This position requires a strong background in Excel VBA programming and a focus on improving reporting efficiency. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain custom Excel VBA macros to automate repetitive tasks, improve data processing, and streamline business workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and design efficient and scalable Excel-based solutions tailored to meet those needs.
  • Build data-driven tools and dashboards in Excel to track and analyse business performance, ensuring that the information is accurate and easily accessible.
  • Integrate Excel VBA solutions with other business systems and databases (eg, SQL, Access, CRM, ERP systems) to ensure smooth data flow and consistency.
  • Identify areas for performance improvement in existing Excel workbooks and VBA scripts, optimizing them for faster processing and lower error rates.
  • Provide support to end-users in troubleshooting Excel VBA-related issues and offer training to ensure effective use of developed tools and solutions.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for all VBA solutions, including code comments, user guides, and technical specifications.
  • Perform thorough testing of all VBA applications to ensure they function as intended and meet business requirements.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in Excel VBA programming and the development of automated Excel solutions (2+ years preferred).
  • Solid understanding of Excel formulas, functions, and advanced Excel features (eg, Power Query, Power Pivot).
  • Experience in integrating Excel with external data sources (eg, databases, web services, APIs).
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and VBA programming (macros, forms, event handling, etc.).
  • Familiarity with other programming languages (eg, SQL, Python, or PowerShell) is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other relevant software.
  • Meticulous approach to coding, testing, and documentation to ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
