Summary: The Event Site Manager for the Altra Brighton Half Marathon is responsible for overseeing the site build and ensuring the event's infrastructure, safety, and quality are maintained. This role involves managing staff, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, leading up to and during the event. The role is crucial for the successful execution of the mass participation running event scheduled for March 1, 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for site build and timely delivery of the event site.
- Manage workflow and allocate duties to event staff/crew on site.
- Develop and distribute a build schedule and ensure proper briefings.
- Open and close the site in accordance with agreements with the landholder.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety plans in conjunction with the Event’s Health & Safety lead.
- Liaise with contractors and coordinate work schedules for various site elements.
- Contribute to the Event Team's planning and delivery of the event.
- Designated operational responsibilities on race day.
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience with event and project management for outdoor events.
- Experience with producing CADS is desirable.
- Practical “hands-on” approach to work.
- Experience working with contractors, particularly in construction for events.
- Confidence in outdoor settings with public access.

Event Site Manager - Altra Brighton Half Marathon Job Description Job Title : Event Site Manager –Altra Brighton Half Marathon Location : Event Site - Hove Lawns, Brighton Hours: Requirement to work flexibly including evenings and weekends as per agreed operational schedule
Overview The Altra Brighton Half Marathon is a mass participation running event taking place on the 1st March 2026. For 2025 the event relocated to Hove Lawns, introducing a weekend format of activities, enabling an expansion in runner numbers, a new improved race village encompassing sponsor activations, retail and food/drink options and delivering our Youth Races as a new standalone Saturday event.
The Event Site Manager is a key role within the Events staff structure, reporting directly to the overall Head of Operations.
Key Responsibilities The Site Manager has overall responsibility for site build, working with key contractors to ensure the site is delivered on time and to plan whilst maintaining infrastructure, safety, usability, and quality of the site for the duration of the event and will encompass:
- Managing workflow and allocation of duties to event staff/crew working on site and around their course (including signage, sponsor activations and water stations)
- Develop a build schedule for distribution around the team and ensure briefing accordingly
- Opening and closing the site in accordance with contractual agreements with the landholder (BHCC)
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety (including weather) plans in conjunction with the Event’s Health & Safety lead
- Site liaison with contractors and co-ordination of work schedules – including Marquees, Construction (barriers), crew, AV & Audio, Power and structures – gantry, start line and cabins.
- Contributing to the Event Teams planning of the site and delivery of the Event
- Designated operational responsibilities on race day
Work Period Required for continuous period (including weekend of the event) from Tuesday 24th Feb to Tuesday 3rd March Further days/requirements will be agreed as necessary – in the region of a further 6 days, which will include an operational debrief.
Key Skills: Extensive experience with event and project management for outdoor events. Experience of working with and producing CADS is desirable Practical “Hands on” approach to work. Experience of working with contractors and in particular construction elements to set up and deliver events. Confidence working in an outdoor setting with direct access by members of the public and our customers – the running community. Ability to identify hazards and anticipate key actions required in order to be prepared for weather events and each new activity in the schedule. Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities. Excellent organizational and planning skills. Ability to identify challenges and work through problem-solving solutions in a pressurized environment. A team player with strong leadership and delegation skills. Experience of managing and working with volunteers.
