Summary: The ETL Data Engineer role requires an individual with current active SC clearance to support the ITEC programme by developing and maintaining ETL processes primarily using Talend and Oracle RDS systems. The position involves both on-site work in Telford, Shropshire and remote work, with a focus on delivering project artefacts and supporting testing phases. The role also includes mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with colleagues in a scrum environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop project artefacts including Talend jobs, Oracle DDL and SQL, and GitLab Pipeline enhancements.
- Investigate and resolve defects/issues raised during testing phases.
- Review colleagues' development and test artefacts.
- Support for Production promotion and warranty support.
- Conduct Component Testing of developed artefacts, including test data creation.
- Support QAs in conducting test phases and debugging issues identified throughout the development lifecycle.
- Create and execute test packs for Component Test automation.
- Support Performance Testing phase.
- Provide support and guidance to colleagues and mentor junior engineers.
- Report to Lead engineer and participate in scrum-of-scrum discussions.
Key Skills:
- Current active SC clearance.
- Experience with ETL tooling, preferably Talend, but Pentaho/Informatic experience is acceptable.
- Experience working with Oracle RDS databases.
- Proficiency in developing SQL and Oracle DDL.
- Familiarity with GitLab Pipeline enhancements.
- Ability to conduct component testing and create test data.
- Experience in mentoring junior engineers.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug issues.

Job Description:
Demand on the in the ITEC programme area has increased dramatically necessitating additional developers to support the delivery of the ITEC Pillar2 R7 release
This developer role will be primarily working on Tal end and Oracle RDS systems, within our existing Tal end framework and patterns. Experience of ETL tooling will be needed, preferably Tal end but Pent aho/Inform atica experience will be transferable. Experience working in Oracle RDS databases will also be required.
