Position Summary

A leading bulk liquid storage and logistics organization is seeking an Environmental Specialist to provide environmental compliance support across terminal operations.

This position will assist with environmental monitoring, recordkeeping, permitting, reporting, and regulatory compliance activities related to air, water, and waste programs.

The Environmental Specialist will work closely with site leadership and EHS&S personnel to help maintain compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations while supporting the company's commitment to responsible operations and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain environmental records, including air emissions data, water monitoring results, spill reports, inspection documentation, and other compliance-related records.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring activities, including sample collection and use of field monitoring equipment.
  • Assist with preparation and submission of environmental reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Perform routine field inspections to evaluate environmental compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support environmental permitting activities, including permit renewals and modifications.
  • Assist during regulatory inspections, customer audits, and internal compliance reviews.
  • Review and evaluate Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and environmental implications of stored materials.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of environmental programs, including:
  • Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans
  • Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP)
  • Waste Minimization and Waste Management Programs
  • Coordinate environmental training initiatives and assist in developing educational materials for employees.
  • Support hazardous and non-hazardous waste management activities, including waste characterization, sampling, and disposal coordination.
  • Participate in environmental incident response and follow-up investigations as needed.
  • Stay current on changing environmental regulations and industry best practices.
  • Perform additional environmental compliance duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Ecology, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum three (3) years of environmental compliance or environmental management experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience working with environmental regulatory programs and reporting requirements.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
  • Ability to adapt and succeed in a dynamic operational environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Understanding of chemical properties and environmental considerations, including flash point, boiling point, pH, density, and solubility.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining compliance deadlines.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with regulatory agencies, contractors, vendors, and customers.
