Summary: The Environmental Advisor role at Inpex involves providing technical report writing and support to the Environment team, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting safety. The successful candidate will engage in various assurance activities, review environmental documentation, and collaborate with project teams and contractors. This position emphasizes the importance of safety and environmental protection in all operations. The role requires a strong technical background in environmental disciplines, particularly within the petroleum or renewables sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, ensuring the welfare of personnel and the protection of assets and the environment at all times
- Participate in assurance activities in support of HSE-MS implementation, as directed
- Assist in the implementation of HSE KPI’s and HSE Targets & Objectives
- Promote the ‘Stop Work’ authority by intervening in unsafe acts or conditions
- Promote INPEXs vision of Anzen Dai Ichi – Safety Number One
- Review and/or prepare Environmental approvals documentation required in collaboration with Subject Matter Experts from Project teams, Environment and third parties (e.g. GIS, oil spill modellers)
- Technical review of environment approval documentation prior to submission to regulators
- Review of contractor construction management plans
- Advanced technical writing to author, review and/or manage Environmental impact assessment chapters/documents
- Demonstrate the INPEX Values
- Strong emphasis on Collaboration within the environment team and HSE function
Key Skills:
- Experience in environmental discipline, preferably in the petroleum or renewables sector
- Demonstrates a high level of technical skills applicable to the role, including experience in interpreting and applying legislative and other legal requirements and with a sound understanding of environmental impact assessment processes
- Experience managing implementation of offshore and/or onshore petroleum activities to ensure compliance with environmental approval requirements and commitments, including field-based experience
- Experience in undertaking environmental inspections and audits on Contractors in an offshore or onshore context
- Demonstrates attention to detail, ability to follow established procedures and maintain accurate records
- Experience in development of Environment Plans and/or environmental impact assessment documents, including a working knowledge of key regulatory requirements related to the OPGGS (Environment) Regulations and/or NT approvals
- An ability to review documentation/engineering documents/design drawings for completeness and adequacy against regulatory requirements
- Experience in implementing risk assessment processes, including in relation to new activities and management of change
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills, including oral and written communications, and a high level of computer literacy
- Skilled at prioritization of tasks and problem solving to identify and implement effective solutions to regulatory and other Project challenges
- Demonstrated ability to work within culturally diverse teams/organisations
