Summary: The role of Enterprise Architect involves leading a major enterprise project focused on migrating from VMware to Red Hat OpenShift. The position requires deep expertise in network and security platforms, as well as a strong architectural understanding of virtualization and container technologies. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, ensuring effective integration of network, security, and infrastructure domains into the enterprise transformation. This is a 6-month contract with hybrid working arrangements based in Sheffield.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and guide the network and security architecture for the migration from VMware to Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Define migration paths and support the overall modernization journey.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior technology and business stakeholders.
  • Integrate network, security, and infrastructure domains into the broader enterprise transformation.

Key Skills:

  • Deep hands-on experience with at least 4 of the following technologies: F5, Cisco ASA, BIG-IP, Infoblox, Cisco ISE, RSA, SevOne, Netscout.
  • Strong understanding of network architectures, security models, and virtualization technologies.
  • Familiarity with OpenShift/Kubernetes networking models and service mesh architectures.
  • Working knowledge of automation and orchestration tools (Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Understanding of hybrid and multi-cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience delivering similar projects in large enterprises and regulated environments.
  • Proven ability to define target architectures, migration roadmaps, and reference designs.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and consultative communication skills.

Major enterprise project supporting VMware to Red Hat OpenShift migration.

Immediate contract for an experienced Enterprise Architect with deep hands-on expertise across network and security platforms-including F5, Cisco ASA, BIG-IP, Infoblox, Cisco ISE, RSA, SevOne, and Netscout-and a strong architectural understanding of virtualisation and container platforms. Support defining migration path (from VMWare to OpenShift).

This role will be responsible for designing and guiding the network and security architecture that underpins the organisation's modernisation journey from VMware to Red Hat OpenShift. The successful candidate will combine technical depth in multiple appliance technologies with the ability to understand, model, and define migration paths for those areas they have less hands-on experience in.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise:

  • Deep hands-on experience with at least 4 of the following technologies:
    • F5 (LTM/GTM/ASM/APM)
    • Cisco ASA/Firepower
    • BIG-IP
    • Infoblox (DNS/DHCP/IPAM)
    • Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine)
    • RSA (Authentication Manager/SecurID)
    • SevOne (Network Performance Monitoring)
    • Netscout (Visibility and Performance Analytics)
  • Strong understanding of network architectures, security models, and virtualisation technologies (VMware vSphere, NSX, vSAN).
  • Familiarity with OpenShift/Kubernetes networking models, ingress/egress controllers, and service mesh architectures.
  • Working knowledge of automation and orchestration tools (Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Understanding of hybrid and multi-cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Architectural & Soft Skills:

  • Delivered similar project in large Enterprise and in a regulated environment
  • Proven ability to define target architectures, migration roadmaps, and reference designs.
  • Experience operating at Enterprise or Principal Architect level, aligning technical solutions with business strategy.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly understand and learn new platforms or appliances to support architectural planning.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing, and consultative communication skills.
