Summary: The Lead Enterprise Architect will be responsible for driving enterprise-wide architecture strategy across multiple programmes and domains within a complex, secure environment. This role requires technical leadership in areas such as cloud, infrastructure, data, applications, and security, while also shaping architecture strategy for a major Line of Business. The position involves mentoring the internal architecture community and representing the organization at senior external forums. Proven experience in enterprise architecture within large, complex environments, particularly in defence or aerospace, is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead enterprise architecture development and governance across programmes
  • Define and maintain architecture principles, standards, and frameworks aligned to business strategy
  • Shape architecture strategy for a major Line of Business
  • Provide technical leadership across cloud, infrastructure, data, applications, and security
  • Chair design reviews and ensure alignment with strategic and security objectives
  • Drive innovation, research, and capability development
  • Represent the organisation at senior external forums
  • Mentor and develop the internal architecture community

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience leading enterprise architecture in large, complex environments
  • Strong background in defence/aerospace programmes within secure or government contexts
  • Expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, MODAF, ArchiMate)
  • Deep understanding of secure-by-design principles and cybersecurity
  • Experience in architectural governance, design assurance, and cross-domain delivery
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. TOGAF, cloud architect, CISSP)
  • Experience contributing to industry standards or thought leadership
  • Exposure to international or regulatory environments
