Summary: The Retail Enterprise Architect role is a contract position focused on leading the design and execution of enterprise architectures within the retail sector, particularly in areas such as merchandising, supply chain, and product data management. The position requires a deep understanding of retail business domains and aims to drive strategic alignment and technology roadmaps to support digital transformation initiatives. The role involves collaboration with business stakeholders and the governance of architecture standards across various retail functions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in product-centric delivery and modernizing core systems using cloud and microservice architectures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the enterprise and solution architecture strategy across planning, buying, trading, merchandising, and supply chain functions.
- Govern and evolve end-to-end architecture patterns, standards, and principles for core commercial and operational systems.
- Partner with business stakeholders and product owners to shape domain roadmaps and assess architectural impacts of strategic initiatives.
- Work with architects across product data management, merchandising, planning, and integration.
- Design scalable, modular, and composable architectures leveraging API-first, microservices, cloud-native, and event-driven patterns.
- Architect and oversee delivery of solutions integrating ERP Platforms like Oracle Retail, eCommerce, PLM, and finance systems.
- Drive modernization of legacy platforms and enable speed-to-market initiatives across retail channels (B2C, B2B, dropship).
- Conduct architecture assessments, design authority reviews, and ensure solution alignment with business outcomes.
- Lead architectural input for RFPs, vendor assessments, and platform selection activities.
- Act as a strategic advisor to technology leadership on commercial technology transformation.
Key Skills:
- Deep understanding of retail business domains including commercial, merchandising, product data management, trading & planning, category & assortment, pricing & promotions, and supply chain.
- Proven track record in product-centric delivery and shaping end-to-end architecture across enterprise platforms.

An experienced Retail Enterprise Architect with a deep understanding of retail business domains—especially commercial, merchandising, product data mgmt, trading & planning, category & assortment, pricing & promotions, planning, and supply chain—to lead the design and execution of enterprise architectures across multiple retail areas including grocery, general merchandise, and fashion.
The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of working in a product-centric delivery, shaping end-to-end architecture across enterprise platforms, modernising core systems, and enabling transformation using cloud, integration, and microservice architectures.
This role will be pivotal in driving strategic alignment, domain-led architectural governance, and technology roadmaps to support ongoing business and digital transformation initiatives.
