Summary: The role of Enterprise Architect involves designing and assuring digital solutions that enhance lives across various sectors, including Government and Defence. Key Responsibilities:
- Bridging the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders to design a technology roadmap.
- Managing relationships and communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
- Understanding technology design governance and assuring corporate services.
- Making and justifying high-risk decisions while building consensus among diverse stakeholders.
- Shaping and influencing business and technical strategies, including setting standards and policies.
- Designing systems characterized by high levels of risk and complexity.
- Networking and communicating with senior stakeholders across organizations.
- Supporting multiple teams and utilizing best practices and emerging technologies.
- Identifying existing and new design patterns for reuse in architecture.
- Ensuring compliance with cyber security and other relevant policies.
- Understanding external trends and practices that impact organizational work.
Key Skills:
- Experience in designing and assuring solutions that meet principles and guidelines.
- Understanding of architecture frameworks (e.g., GDS, TOGAF, NIST Cyber Security Framework).
- Industry experience with IT and OT requirements and relevant UK standards.
- Knowledge of security legislation and regulatory frameworks (e.g., DPA, PCI-DSS, GDPR).
- Aware of security methodologies and industry standards (e.g., ISO27001, NIST, SANS).
- Desirable qualifications include TOGAF, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, and CISSP certification.

We are looking for an Enterprise Architect with business domain experience, to design and assure digital solutions that enable, support and improve people's lives across multiple industry sectors (Government, Defence,Transport and Utility initiates for example)
Skills needed for this role (Relevant skill level: SFIA 5-7)
- Bridging the gap between the technical and non-technical by understanding and elucidating business outcomes and requirements together with the technology principles to design and communicate a technology roadmap to meet stakeholder needs.
- You will mediate between people and manage relationships, communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
- Governance. You will understand how technology design and governance works with wider governance - for example, budget. You will assure corporate services by understanding important risks and mitigating through assurance mechanisms.
- Making and guiding decisions. You will make and justify decisions characterised by high levels of risk, impact and complexity. You will build consensus between organisations (private or public) or highly independent and diverse stakeholders.
- Strategy. You will shape and influencing Costain and client business and Technical strategy. You will own and be responsible for setting strategies, patterns, standards, policies, roadmaps and vision statements.
- Turning business problems into technical design. You will design systems characterised by high levels of risk, impact, and business or technical complexity
An Enterprise Architect leads at the highest level and is responsible for making sure the strategy is agreed and followed. At this level, you will:
- Network and communicate with senior stakeholders across supplier and customer organisations.
- Support multiple teams, finding and using best practice and emerging technologies.
- Be responsible for governance, solving complex and high-risk issues or delivering architecture design.
- Identify existing patterns for reuse, new patterns to add to the approved design framework and where novel, bespoke designs are appropriate.
- Ensure cyber security and other policies are followed.
- Understanding the whole context. You will understand trends and practices outside the organisation and how these will impact on your work. You will anticipate changing policy.
Essential
- Experience of designing and independently assuring the completeness of solutions to meet principles, policies and guidelines.
- Have an experienced understanding of Architecture frameworks (eg GDS, TOGAF, NIST Cyber Security Framework, ISF Standard, SABSA) .
- Industry experience with an understanding of both IT and OT requirements and solutions, and the relevant UK standards and regulations.
- Security legislation and regulatory frameworks (eg DPA, PCI-DSS, GDPR, UK Gov Good Practice Guides).
- Detailed awareness of security methodologies and industry standards (eg ISO27001, NIST, SANS).
