Summary: The role of English Lecturer involves delivering high-quality GCSE English teaching to students at colleges across Kent. The successful candidate will inspire learners and support their academic progress to help them achieve their GCSE English qualifications. This position is ideal for experienced educators or industry professionals with teaching qualifications. It is an hourly paid teaching role focused on engaging and effective lesson delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging GCSE English Language (and/or Literature) lessons.
- Teach and assess students in line with the GCSE curriculum and awarding body requirements.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Prepare learners for examinations and controlled assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, achievement and progress.
- Provide academic support and guidance to students to help them reach their full potential.
- Contribute to course development and standardisation activities.
- Ensure safeguarding, equality and diversity policies are upheld at all times.
Key Skills:
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent).
- Degree in English or a related subject.
- Experience teaching GCSE English.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to student achievement and inclusive learning.
- Experience teaching resit GCSE learners in a further education setting (desirable).
- Familiarity with current GCSE specifications and exam board requirements (desirable).
- Experience supporting learners with additional needs (desirable).
