Summary: The Engineering Project Manager role requires an experienced professional with security clearance to lead complex engineering projects in the aerospace and defence sector. The position involves coordinating multi-disciplinary teams to ensure high-quality project delivery while managing budgets, schedules, and stakeholder communication. The role is based in Luton and includes travel within the UK and abroad. This is a 12-month contract position with a focus on driving engineering performance and compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate engineering activities across multiple disciplines and teams
- Define, structure, and manage engineering work packages and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
- Develop and maintain engineering plans, schedules, and resource forecasts
- Monitor technical progress, budgets, risks, and delivery milestones
- Establish and track engineering KPIs to drive performance and continuous improvement
- Ensure engineering outputs meet customer, regulatory, contractual, and company requirements
- Manage configuration control and change management processes
- Coordinate engineering activities from concept and development through integration and delivery
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers
- Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and programme risks
- Provide clear leadership, direction, and expectations to engineering teams
Key Skills:
- Security cleared - live security clearance and sole British national required
- Proven experience managing engineering work packages, projects, or technical programmes
- Aerospace, defence, or highly regulated industry experience
- Strong planning, scheduling, and organisational skills
- Experience managing engineering budgets, resources, and project timelines
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience monitoring technical performance, risks, and project delivery metrics
- Understanding of engineering lifecycle processes and systems engineering principles

You will drive engineering performance across cost, schedule, quality, and technical delivery, ensuring successful project outcomes throughout the engineering lifecycle . Essential Skills & Experience
- Security cleared - This is a non negotiable, you MUST hold live security clearance and be a sole British national to be considered, this is due to the classification of the programme
