The Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager with a strong Java/Full Stack background to lead and develop a software engineering team in Manchester.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop Software/Full Stack Engineers.
- Provide technical leadership across Java, Spring Boot and full-stack applications.
- Support architecture, design decisions and technical direction.
- Partner with Product to deliver high-quality software.
- Drive standards across code quality, testing, CI/CD and production readiness.
- Manage technical risks, dependencies and technical debt.
- Promote engineering ownership, accountability and continuous improvement.
Essential Experience
- Strong Java/Full Stack engineering background.
- Commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience with microservices, APIs and distributed systems.
- Previous Engineering Manager/Software Engineering Manager experience.
- Proven people-management, coaching and mentoring experience.
- Strong understanding of software architecture and engineering best practices.
- Cloud experience, ideally AWS.
- Experience with automated testing and CI/CD.
- Strong stakeholder and communication skills.
