Summary: The Engineering Manager role at a leading Software House in South Manchester is a contract position for 3 months, focusing on technical leadership during a critical development phase. The ideal candidate will be hands-on with coding, lead sprint planning, and drive process improvements while ensuring alignment between product teams and developers. Responsibilities also include overseeing quality assurance and managing complex data mapping tasks. Technical expertise in areas such as C# .NET Core and Azure is advantageous but not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead by example and remain hands-on with the code while coaching developers.
- Support and run sprint planning sessions to align tasks with business goals.
- Identify and implement improvements across engineering workflows and delivery processes.
- Act as a bridge between product teams and developers to ensure alignment.
- Work on complex data mapping tasks for integrations and platform evolution.
- Ensure quality standards are maintained through best practices and peer reviews.
Key Skills:
- Experience in team leadership and technical delivery.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and sprint planning.
- Ability to identify process improvements in engineering workflows.
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder support.
- Technical expertise in C# .NET Core, Azure, Microservice Architecture, Azure DevOps, TDD, or Unit Testing.
- Experience with event-driven development is a plus.

We're working with a leading Software House based in South Manchester, currently looking for a Engineering Manager Contractor to join their team for 3 months during a key phase of development and delivery.
What We’re Looking For:
- Team Lead / Technical Lead : We’re seeking leaders who lead by example, remain hands-on with the code, and pair with the team regularly. The ideal candidate will be comfortable reviewing code and coaching developers while contributing directly to technical delivery.
- Sprint Planning & Agile Delivery : You’ll support and run sprint planning sessions, ensuring tasks are clearly defined and aligned with business goals.
- Process Improvement : You’ll take the lead in identifying and implementing improvements across engineering workflows, tooling, and delivery processes.
- Stakeholder Support : You’ll act as a bridge between product teams and developers, supporting stakeholders to ensure alignment across technical and business objectives.
- Data Mapping : You’ll work on complex data mapping tasks to support integrations and platform evolution.
- Quality Assurance : You’ll ensure quality standards are maintained across the codebase through best practices, testing, and peer reviews.
