Summary: The Engineering Manager role involves overseeing engineering support across various programs, particularly in the nuclear industry, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The position requires managing multi-discipline engineering teams and engaging with stakeholders throughout project lifecycles. This contract role is classified as inside IR35 and requires candidates to be UK born due to security protocols. The successful candidate will contribute to safety case management and promote professional behaviors within the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and implement the Safety Justification Plan.
  • Engage and collaborate with stakeholders throughout project lifecycles to ensure Defence Authority (DA) requirements are identified and appropriately managed.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with site-specific Safety Management Arrangements, processes, and procedures.
  • Offer guidance and assistance to Safety Case and Design Engineers.
  • Contribute to the programme’s optioneering processes.
  • Promote and uphold appropriate professional behaviours across the engineering team.
  • Ensure that system-specific Learning from Experience (LfE) is effectively shared within the engineering function.
  • Encourage a culture of collaboration and transparency across the organisation.
  • Prepare and deliver safety case and engineering presentations as required.
  • Support overall programme delivery by facilitating clear and effective communication between the programme team and key stakeholders.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures related to Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality, and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of these standards on site.

Key Skills:

  • Qualification to degree level in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status or able to attain chartered status (demonstration of continued professional development).
  • Detailed knowledge of regulatory compliance to nuclear industry standards and site Authorised Conditions.
  • Technical assurance activities.
  • Project engineering, including site implementation/integration.
  • Compliance with legislation and standards.
  • Working within a highly regulated environment.
  • Production of technical documentation e.g. technical reports, specifications, technical queries etc.
  • Liaising with a range of stakeholders.
  • Basic health and safety training for site visits.
  • Nuclear safety case.
  • Working fully autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Supervision/mentoring of engineering team.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisation and communication (written and verbal) skills.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has opened up for an experienced Engineering Manager to become responsible for overseeing the provision of engineering support across relevant programmes of work. This is a contract role and has been deemed inside IR35

Your duties and responsibilities will be
