Summary: The Engineering Lead role involves overseeing and driving the operational excellence of engineering teams distributed across the UK, Poland, and India. The position requires strong leadership in managing project demands, resource allocation, and ensuring alignment with business priorities. The candidate will also lead strategic upgrades and ensure the stability of critical banking platforms while promoting modern engineering practices. This role is classified as inside IR35 and requires a hybrid working arrangement with three days on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership across multi-region engineering teams (UK, Poland, India)
- Support team managers with:
- Project demand planning
- Capacity and resource management
- Delivery prioritisation and oversight
- Act as a senior escalation point for engineering and operational issues
- Ensure alignment between engineering output and business priorities
- Lead strategic upgrades and transformation initiatives, including:
- Control-M platform upgrades
- Managed File Transfer (MFT) upgrades and modernisation
- Oversee the stability, resilience, and performance of critical banking platforms
- Support large-scale initiatives such as data centre migrations
- Ensure platforms evolve in line with enterprise and regulatory requirements
- Ensure systems operate securely, reliably, and in line with banking standards
- Balance run the bank activity with ongoing transformation and delivery
- Drive continuous improvement through:
- Automation
- Standardisation
- Process optimisation
- Encourage adoption of modern engineering and DevOps practices
- Promote the use of automation tools and open-source technologies
- Work with technologies including:
- Ansible
- Open-source tooling
- DevOps-style operating models
Key Skills:
- Strong engineering background (infrastructure, platform engineering, Control-M, or MFT environments)
- Proven Experience leading large, globally distributed engineering teams
- Demonstrable people leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Experience managing complex enterprise platforms within regulated environments (eg financial services)
- Comfortable operating at a senior level
- Strong understanding of open-source technologies and modern engineering practices
- Experience with Control-M environments
- Managed File Transfer (MFT) platforms
- Ansible or similar automation tools
- Open-source ecosystems
- Background in financial services or large-scale enterprise organisations

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Delivery
